About The Position

This role involves leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced automation systems, including robotics, PLCs, vision systems, and SCADA platforms. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. A key aspect of the role is ensuring automation systems adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements. The position also includes conducting feasibility studies, ROI analysis, and risk assessments for automation initiatives, as well as developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for these systems. Additionally, the role requires maintaining and improving existing automation systems for optimal performance and reliability, providing training and support to manufacturing personnel, and overseeing troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex automation issues. Staying current with industry advancements, such as additive manufacturing, and collaborating with external vendors are also important. The role includes mentoring junior engineers and acting as a role model for engineering excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, combined with 10+ years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of visitors or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Microsoft Office, CAD.
  • Ability to understand and write programs in several equipment languages; including but not limited to: PLC, EIA/ISO G-Code, Fanuc Karel (Pascal), ABB Rapid.

  • Act as a role model for engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
