3rd Shift Controls Technician Level 4
About The Position
This is a hands-on, non-production role responsible for preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds, and projects involving plant equipment. The work is performed safely and efficiently in accordance with USDA, HACCP, GMFP, and company standards, under the supervision of a Maintenance Manager and Controls Engineer. The Controls Technician designs, develops, implements, and supervises electrical control systems for machinery and equipment; troubleshoots electrical and programming issues across plant equipment and processes; and works with the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Managers to plan and accomplish goals. The role also supports cost-saving solutions and manages assigned projects and controls-related documentation. The position requires working in a wet, cold environment and wearing specified protective equipment. Requirements
- PLC and HMI programming experience, including RSlogix 500, RSlogix 5000, FactoryTalk View ME and SE, PanelView, and PanelView +.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience with PLCs and VFDs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to solve computer system problems in a server environment.
- Ability to perform the role's essential physical functions, including twisting, bending, reaching, and standing for 8 hours or the duration of the shift in a wet, cold environment.
Nice To Haves
- VB programming experience.
- A licensed electrician or in the process of acquiring an electrician license.
- Ability to TIG-weld stainless steel to food-grade standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds, and projects on plant equipment.
- Design, develop, implement, and supervise electrical control systems for machinery and equipment.
- Work with the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Managers to plan and accomplish goals.
- Assist the Project Coordinator in developing and implementing cost-saving solutions.
- Provide electrical and programming troubleshooting support for plant equipment and processes.
- Assist personnel with electrical and equipment troubleshooting as needed.
- Perform and assist with PLC programming and maintain files.
- Design and develop HMI systems.
- Manage and assist with controls documentation.
- Help build and wire equipment panels as necessary.
- Manage assigned projects from start to finish.
- Manage and assist with SOP documentation for plant equipment and processes.
- Assist Refrigeration Specialists as required.
- Participate in HAZMAT.
