About The Position

The Controls Startup Lead is responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning field-based PLC and turbine control systems for LM6000 gas turbine power generation projects. The role requires deep expertise in process control, programming, and system integration, with frequent travel to project sites for hands-on implementation and support. This position is remote within the United States and reports to the VP Startup Services.

Requirements

At least 10 years of LM6000 gas turbine controls and PLC commissioning experience.
In-depth technical experience in process instrumentation and controls, including pressure, temperature, level, and flow measurement technologies.
High proficiency supporting distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers.
Working knowledge of electrical equipment and systems.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, and work in tight or elevated spaces on active construction sites.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Willingness to travel up to 85%, including internationally.
Fluent spoken and written English.
US work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship for a work-authorized visa will not be considered.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with industrial control programming and system design, including GE, Woodward, and Ovation.
Experience with GE aeroderivative gas turbines, programming, and sequencing.
Technical knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a matrixed team environment.

Responsibilities

Perform or coordinate testing of LM6000 gas turbine control-system, indication, and annunciation loops.
Verify, modify, and tune plant control loops according to revised design requirements.
Apply process-controls expertise to understand processes, optimize parameters and measurable outcomes, and minimize hazard risks.
Read and interpret P&IDs and work with instrumentation and control equipment in industrial environments.
Demonstrate, optimize, and instruct others in control methods, analog and discrete controls, and development of sustainable control algorithms.
Program and configure LM6000 gas turbine control systems.
Implement control methodologies across PLC and HMI platforms using multiple programming languages and adapting to new platforms.
Collaborate with instrument technicians, operations, maintenance, construction personnel, and vendors to provide technical assistance, field support, and guidance in problem-solving and improvements at project sites.
Support commissioning, startup, and construction efforts with technical expertise.
