About The Position

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Controls Service Tech II provides troubleshooting, diagnostics and service activities on existing building automation systems under T&M service requests, planned service agreements, or small service projects.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience of building automation or controls service experience
  • 2-4 years experience working with IT networks, building controls, or building mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and BAS communications
  • Experience modifying control programs and graphics within established standards
  • Ability to work independently on most service calls
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass required background and pre-employment screening

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred
  • Familiarity with Niagara-based systems or similar open-platform controls.
  • Experience supporting system upgrades and controller replacements.
  • Exposure to integrations between BAS and mechanical equipment.
  • Technical certifications or manufacturer training related to controls systems.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs on building automation systems
  • Review and modify job specific programming for various systems; installs, reviews, modifies project databases, workstation builds and graphics
  • Troubleshoots and resolves routine inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations; resolves minor systems issues
  • Update and configure PC workstations, user interfaces, data servers, IP Networking devices, routers, switches, mass storage devices and hubs.
  • Diagnoses, and resolves routine network issues
  • Independently coordinate network drops, IP address setup and deployment of monitoring tools with customer's IT Department personnel
  • Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to resolve customer system technical issues
  • Independently able to work with building owners and managers to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency; assures customer acceptance; trains customers on system operations
  • Completes and submits routine service work orders and written reports to provide service documentation to customers
