About The Position

Responsible for leading and growing the Controls Department, including building automation systems, controls service, maintenance agreements, and controls project operations. This role is accountable for achieving revenue, profit, maintenance base, and customer retention goals through effective leadership of sales, service, and operational teams. Ensures the successful implementation of company business systems while delivering high quality, cost effective solutions that meet customer expectations and support long term growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or seven to ten years of related experience.
  • Experience leading a Building Automation Controls department.
  • Strong knowledge of controls systems, building automation systems, controls service agreements, controls retrofit projects, and facility operations.
  • Proven success in coaching and developing people.
  • Strong understanding of proactive sales funnel management and tracking sales activity.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed, including potential overnight travel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of software platforms, business systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and shared cloud-based drives.
  • Self-motivated, confident, independent, and organized.
  • Positive attitude, energy, and enthusiasm to drive company growth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving work environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Redeem the annual plan through bookings, activities, sales costs, and profit management, ensuring leadership and staff management in designated markets.
  • Understand and manage project and maintenance agreements.
  • Train staff on systems, pricing, and sales strategies to minimize risks and improve performance.
  • Train staff to evaluate and sell price escalations, establish escalation policies, and handle cancellations effectively.
  • Assess risks and manage credit and collections.
  • Approve new accounts based on credit policy and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize revenue and problem resolution.
  • Monitor billing for optimal cash flow, expedite payments, develop and comply with budgets, and establish purchasing policies.
  • Ensure prompt, accurate documentation and high-quality proposals.
  • Train staff in preparing and auditing paperwork.
  • Train and support the sales force to meet booking goals, develop sales campaigns, and establish pricing policies.
  • Assist in evaluating and pricing service agreements.
  • Implement effective time management, set goals, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Handle personnel actions and motivate staff.
  • Provide materials, support, and staffing to maximize productivity and control labor costs.
  • Maintain high morale and achieve profit objectives.
  • Regularly review and improve operating and sales policies.
  • Develop annual plans, market penetration strategies, and handle customer complaints effectively.
  • Understand mechanical systems for accurate appraisals and recommendations.
  • Identify project opportunities, coordinate staff, and address customer concerns to maintain positive relationships.
  • Prepare detailed reports and proposals, conduct mid-year reviews, and build a network of potential recruits.
  • Support special projects as assigned and perform other duties as required.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
