About The Position

The Controls Engineering Intern completes assigned projects and tasks during the internship period. The intern develops Python scripts and applications to automate ERP and machine transactions, machine data collection, and quality analytics. They build software tools that streamline quality test equipment, data collection, and reporting procedures, and assist with Ignition dashboards, data views, and analysis tools for troubleshooting and process improvements. The role also maintains documentation of systems, scripts, device configurations, and data flows.

The intern attends company-sponsored training, educational seminars, and events; works with an assigned mentor and manager; provides periodic project updates; and completes an end-of-summer internship presentation. They demonstrate Viaflex Team Member Values and support continuous improvement and promotion of the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards. The intern may also perform comparable duties or assist in other areas as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Programming, Electronic Engineering Technology, Data Science, or Computer Science.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously without close supervision.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to identify waste and creatively look for solutions.
• Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
• Flexibility and ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

Responsibilities

• Complete projects and tasks assigned within the internship discipline.
• Develop Python scripts and applications to automate ERP and machine transactions, machine data collection, and quality analytics processes.
• Build software tools to streamline and automate quality test equipment, data collection, and reporting procedures.
• Assist in developing Ignition dashboards, data views, and analysis tools to support troubleshooting and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, scripts, device configurations, and data flows.
• Attend Viaflex-sponsored training and educational seminars and participate in Viaflex-sponsored events.
• Work with an assigned mentor and manager to successfully complete the internship.
• Provide periodic updates to managers and peers on assigned projects.
• Complete an end-of-summer internship presentation.
• Demonstrate Viaflex Team Member Values and encourage the team to do the same.
• Support continuous improvement and promotion of the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
• Perform comparable duties or assist in other areas as needed.
