About The Position
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team in Tonawanda. This role involves programming PLCs, troubleshooting automation equipment, and working within a high-pressure manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in the automotive or industrial automation sectors.
Requirements
- 2 years Allen-Bradley Rockwell PLC Programming Experience (RSLogix 5000 or/and Studio 5000)
- 2 years Siemens PLC – TIA Portal/S7 Programming Experience
- 2 years Ladder Logic PLC Programming Experience
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and machine control circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot controls related automation equipment breakdowns in a high-pressure manufacturing environment
- Basic Robot programming experience
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong Comprehension of Ethernet/IP industrial networks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with maintenance, production, suppliers, and central ME teams
- Leadership/ownership of tasks: planning, scheduling, and coordinating work with trades and contractors
- Basic Automation Controls Vision systems programming experience
- Ability to work any shift as required by plant operations
- Ability to work 2-3 Weekend shifts/month
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Significant demonstrated experience if only High School diploma is held
- Recent graduate from a technical program (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology) with demonstrated experience from CO-Ops/Internships
Nice To Haves
- Fanuc Robotics Experience
- Prior automotive / vehicle assembly or industrial automation experience
- Understanding/Programming of servo drives, motion control, and VFDs
- Matrox Vision systems programming experience
Responsibilities
- Program Allen-Bradley Rockwell PLCs (RSLogix 5000 or/and Studio 5000)

- Program Ladder Logic PLCs
- Read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and machine control circuits
- Troubleshoot controls related automation equipment breakdowns in a high-pressure manufacturing environment
- Perform basic robot programming (Fanuc Robotics preferred)
- Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Understand and work with Ethernet/IP industrial networks
- Understand/Program servo drives, motion control, and VFDs
- Communicate effectively with maintenance, production, suppliers, and central ME teams
- Take ownership of tasks, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating work with trades and contractors
- Perform basic automation controls vision systems programming (Matrox preferred)
