About The Position

Dematic has an immediate need for an Controls Project Engineer in our Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades group. Candidates will have a minimum of 2-8 years' experience in controls engineering. Qualified candidates are proficient in project planning, creating schematic and electrical layout drawings, working with PLCs and HMIs, and implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects. Employees must be willing to travel up to 40% to customer locations in the USA.

Requirements

  • Current hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Must demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Profibus, ASi, and Ethernet.
  • Experience in writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts is expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage numerous opportunities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current experience with the rigors of on-site startup/commissioning.
  • 2-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of responsibilities as presented above.
  • 4 year degree or equal in a related discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal preferred.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
  • Experience with material handling systems is preferred.
  • Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
  • Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices.
  • Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
  • Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting.
  • Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
  • Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site.
  • Interact directly with the customer on site.
