About The Position

Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development firm specializing in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries, offering clients product engineering and low-volume production solutions. Their capabilities span research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production to accelerate the delivery of high-quality products to market. The Controls Engineer II will be instrumental in supporting vehicle controls and software development, electronics integration, and system commissioning, leveraging fundamental engineering knowledge. This role involves minimal supervision from senior engineers and managers and will focus on the development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a significant emphasis on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field or Master's level degree with 2+ years of related experience or Bachelor's level degree with 3+ years of related experience
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
  • Great attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Define controls architecture, platform, and functionality
  • Define and create control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink environment
  • Develop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle testing
  • Integrate and commission prototype systems in development vehicles
  • Support design, selection, and integration of electronic components
  • Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff
  • Identify controller hardware to meet I/O and computational requirements
  • Communicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
  • Interact with current and potential customers regarding Pratt Miller systems
  • Planning and program management on internal and customer projects
  • Provide feedback on product needs and processes
