About The Position

Globe Machine Manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineer to manage controls design for custom industrial machinery and systems throughout their lifecycle. This role involves hardware selection, PLC/HMI programming, testing, start-up, and commissioning. The engineer will collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, project management, and customers on a global scale, with approximately 40% travel required for international site visits for start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting. This is an opportunity to see designs transition from concept to operational machinery at customer facilities worldwide.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 3+ years designing controls or electro-mechanical systems for industrial/manufacturing equipment or capital equipment.
  • Hands-on PLC programming and HMI development.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and motion control systems.
  • Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens platforms (RSLogix/Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Step7, WinCC, Wonderware InTouch).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Effective communication skills across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams.

  • Equipment start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical and control systems for custom industrial machinery and automated equipment, developing supporting drawings and schematics in AutoCAD.
  • Specify electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motion, and controls components.
  • Program and configure PLC-based systems, HMIs, industrial networks, MCC hardware/software, and closed-loop servo controls.
  • Test completed equipment, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary programming, configuration, or design modifications.
  • Lead start-up and commissioning at customer sites, ensuring systems perform as designed.
  • Partner with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, and project management throughout the design and build process.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and contractors to meet technical and performance requirements.
  • Contribute to operation and maintenance documentation.
