About The Position

The Controls/Electrical Engineer is responsible for the direction and focus of the Controls/Electrical Maintenance Team activities. This role involves organizing workloads, providing technical support, and managing work quality to ensure at least a 95% uptime through support of preventive/reactive maintenance, project management, systems control, and general engineering. The engineer will lead the development of a production automation plan for Buffalo Trace Distillery (BTD) that will specify and develop hardware and software platforms throughout the distillery. This includes supporting production through the implementation and continued support of these systems to develop an expandable control and monitoring system facility-wide, and identifying and leading cost savings initiatives. The vision for this role is to guide the development and establishment of a uniform platform for all PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and overall controls, leading to improved productivity, quicker issue resolution, and enhanced electrical and operational safety. The engineer will also support the overall facility safety program through project management, maintenance, problem identification, and supervision, and participate in the Crisis Management Project as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on maintenance-related items. This role involves training and supervising 3-5 Electrical/Instrumentation technicians, evaluating their performance, and developing improvement plans. The engineer will also create and develop a personal development plan with the Plant Engineer. Ensuring adherence to Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Environmental Policies and Practices is crucial. This includes leading the development and updates of SOPs and processes related to MRO inventory and preventive maintenance scheduling. The role requires meeting and exceeding customer expectations by supervising maintenance employees to deliver product on time, within budget, and to meet quality specifications, as well as troubleshooting operating problems. Leadership must be provided in a manner consistent with the company culture, ensuring fair and respectful treatment of employees and fostering a team environment. The engineer will ensure all projects and initiatives comply with Regulatory and Environmental guidelines, stay updated on technological advancements, and implement training plans for technicians. Assistance in developing a preventative/predictive maintenance program for electrical and controls infrastructure is also required, along with maintaining the documentation system, MP2, for data collection.

Requirements

  • Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years relevant experience (minimum)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • 3 years hands on electrical experience
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming and hardware experience
  • Equipment troubleshooting experience
  • BSEE, BSEET, ASEE, ASEET or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Organize workloads, provide technical support, and manage work quality for the Controls/Electrical Maintenance Team.

  • Keep abreast of all technological advancements and establish/implement a plan to train technicians.
  • Assist in development of a preventative/predictive maintenance program for electrical and controls infrastructure.
  • Maintain the documentation system, MP2, for data collection during repairs and PM activities.
