The Controls Account Manager is responsible for designing, estimating and selling complex building automation systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Controls plan and specification projects and/or direct negotiated sales.
  • Experience in Controls system integration.
  • Experience with Tridium, BacNet, Lon, Trane, and/or other major control vendors.
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook
  • Valid Driver License
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, customers and staff.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Access Controls, Security & CCTV is a plus.
  • Past experience as a controls technician, engineer, or project manager is a plus.
  • CEM and/or LEED certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Designing, estimating and selling complex building automation systems as well as smaller service-based sales, including analytics connections and reporting services
  • Consolidates, references information by collecting, organizing and assembling data for reports, presentations, and/or special projects
  • Develops owner sales plans and generates successful sales with core customers
  • Responds to customers by identifying needs, generating quotes and closing orders
  • Estimating and take-off services will be provided by the operations group, but the controls sales engineer must also be capable of project take-off, estimation and proposal development as needed
  • Regularly visit engineer/architect offices with the goal of education and greater proliferation and influence in the indirect market, with emphasis on building direct client relationships first which then naturally lead into engineering support services for client’s capital projects
  • Assist New System Sales (NSS) with custom and standardized delivery of plans and specifications for qualified opportunities
  • Deliver project bids directly to contractors as well as to New System Sales (NSS) and strategize prior to and during the bid process to win work
  • Provides needed information to other departments to ensure jobs are completed on time
  • Communicates customer perceptions by gathering customer feedback and sharing information with management
  • Works closely as a team member with other parts of the business
  • Demonstrate and promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the Company
  • Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively

  • Provide responsive, professional and diplomatic customer service
  • Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly

  • Immediately address any customer’s concern and requests the involvement of other Company personnel as required
  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your Team Leader
  • Notify Manager or Safety Director of any unsafe conditions
