Controller (Construction)
About The Position
A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in job costing and financial management within the construction industry. The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control related to foundation and construction projects. This position is open due to company growth and the need for strong financial leadership to support expanding project operations. The Controller will play a critical role in managing financial health, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making across construction projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience in construction or related industry
- Strong knowledge of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation) preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Manage job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial tracking
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets and forecast costs
- Lead audits and coordinate with external accounting partners
- Develop and improve financial processes and reporting systems
