About The Position

Aramco Trading Americas is seeking a Controller to lead financial reporting, settlements, and tax at their regional office in Houston, TX. This full-time role involves overseeing the preparation of financial statements, managing settlement operations, ensuring accurate tax reporting, and conducting monthly closing activities. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining compliance, ensuring the integrity of financial data, implementing quality controls, and driving performance improvements to achieve enhanced organizational outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
Leadership skills.
Excellent communication skills for effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting roles.
Proven experience in leading finance teams.
Advance knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Strategic thinking and the ability to provide valuable financial insights.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Leadership capabilities with a track record of managing and developing teams.
Proficient in using financial reporting software and Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Previous managerial audit experience with any of the big 4 accounting firms.
Experience with oil and gas commodity trading company.
Experience in implementing process improvements in financial reporting operations.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective team management and external stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

Oversee the monthly closing process ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Oversee quarterly and annual financial statement preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Lead external and internal audit/review engagements, including resolution of findings.
Ensure compliance with IFRS and group accounting policies.
Review accounting of significant and unusual transactions, including preparation of accounting paper if needed.
Oversee the daily operations of the settlement functions, ensuring timely settlement of invoices and resolution of disputes and issues.
Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls within the settlement function.
Oversee the operations of the tax unit ensuring adherence to tax regulations.
Review of tax reporting requirements in coordination with the Tax Law Department and external consultants.
Collaborate with Tax Law to develop tax optimization initiatives.
Manage and guide inventory and intercompany reconciliation processes.
Implement and enhance quality control measures for financial transactions and reporting.
Develop and execute strategies to drive performance improvement across finance functions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in processes and procedures related to financial reporting, settlements, and tax.
Align financial reporting, settlements, and tax strategies with broader organizational goals.
Collaborate with various departments for cohesive financial operations, including trading, operations, middle office, and legal.
Implement and leverage technology solutions to enhance quality and efficiency.
Provide strong leadership to financial reporting, settlements and tax teams for optimal performance.
Communicate financial strategies and objectives to subordinate teams, providing clear guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Engage with cross-functional teams and departments to ensure coordination and alignment in financial activities.
Interact with executive leadership to provide updates on financial reporting, settlements, and tax matters.
Foster and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and positive engagement.
Engage with external counterparts as needed to solve issues and ensure smooth operations.
Maintain effective communication with ATC and Saudi Aramco, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and facilitating collaboration on financial matters.
