About The Position

Rosecrance is seeking a Controller to lead month-end close processes, publish monthly financial statements, and manage annual financial audits. This role is crucial for ensuring ethical financial practices in accordance with laws, regulations, and accounting standards. The Controller will play a key role in financial management and reporting, contributing to the organization's mission of hope and recovery in behavioral health services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance

Nice To Haves

  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in Illinois is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the monthly financial close process.
  • Approve and post journal entries.
  • Review and approve estimates for employee health plan expenses.
  • Review and approve estimates for contractual allowance and bad debt.
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly Board, CFO and Presidents financial reports as directed.
  • Provide high level and detailed analysis of financial performance.
  • Prepare functional financial reporting for Executive Leadership and Business Leaders as needed.
  • Monitor daily cash flow and short-term cash needs.
  • Design the structure of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other stakeholders throughout the budget process, participate in planning meetings, and meet with other teams as needed.
  • Lead the annual financial audit process, including preparation and review of audit schedules and related documentation.
  • Prepare tax return organizers, manage tax filings, returns and payments.
  • Supervise staff accountants and provide leadership and direction.
  • Complete monthly check ins and annual evaluations according to Rosecrance policy.
  • Assign, track and report on team KPIs and individual goals.
  • Implement new accounting standards that align with GAAP.
  • Lead and contribute to special projects as assigned.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Finance team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
  • Represent the Finance team throughout the organization.
  • Understand and comply with all principles established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Ethics.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
  • Serve as a role model for other staff, patients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
  • Assume other related responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the CEO, CFO or Vice President of Finance.
