Position Overview The Controller oversees all financial activities within the organization and provides leadership to accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting functions. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports audit and regulatory requirements, and partners with hospital leadership to monitor financial performance and budget variances. The Controller plays a key role in maintaining strong internal controls, supporting compliance, and ensuring financial transparency across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • Experience in hospital financial management preferred
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience working with external auditors
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting requirements
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • High attention to detail and organizational strength
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic healthcare environment
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to mission-driven healthcare

Responsibilities

  • Supervise accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting staff
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reporting packages
  • Support year-end audits and coordinate with external auditors
  • Conduct financial variance analysis and partner with department leaders
  • Assist in preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
  • Oversee preparation of Medicare Cost Reports, Disproportionate Share (DSH) audits, and Form 990 filings
  • Monitor financial controls and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement structures
  • Support financial forecasting and performance analysis
