Controller

Claritas RxSouth San Francisco, CA
$180,000 - $220,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting operations, month-end close, payroll, AP/AR, tax compliance, and technical accounting under ASC 606/IFRS 15. This role will lead continuous process improvement, implement scalable controls, and act as a key finance partner in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a proactive owner — someone who takes an overall interest in the business, continuously improves workflows and reconciliations, and can master a complex billing and revenue cycle.

Requirements

  • San Francisco based — this will be a hybrid model with 2 days per week in our South San Francisco office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager in SaaS or recurring-revenue businesses (PE-backed preferred).
  • Mastery of NetSuite, Bill, and related accounting/finance systems.
  • Deep technical knowledge of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for SaaS and service contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex contracting, invoicing, and revenue recognition — customers with multiple concurrent SOWs, mixed revenue types, and shifting delivery timeframes — and the ability to get their arms completely around the contract-to-revenue lifecycle.
  • Track record of designing and driving accounting and operational process change, ideally in high-growth/PE/start-up environments.
  • Proactive, ownership-minded operator who takes an overall interest in the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, scale systems, and deliver timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and all month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606/IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards, supporting complex recurring and services revenue streams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s complex billing and revenue cycle, working closely with Revenue Operations and Legal to ensure alignment on contract terms and how they convert to revenue.
  • Responsible for tax filings, sales/use tax, and regulatory compliance in partnership with external advisors.
  • Develop, document, and implement efficient internal controls, scalable processes, and continuous improvements to workflows and reconciliations across all finance functions.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director, Finance on financial statement preparation, and provide key support for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Own the Company’s finance systems, including NetSuite, Bill, and related tools, ensuring accurate data flow, integration, and system utilization.
  • Manage external audit, tax, and valuation providers and associated audit and compliance activities.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic projects and business process change.
  • Lead the project to pull the Company out of its PEO, ensuring a seamless transition of payroll and benefits workflows across HR and finance.
  • Take ownership of cash management, internal controls, and risk management initiatives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and grow the accounting team, driving accountability and professional development.
