About The Position
The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions of the Nation, including financial reports, supervising accounting staff, assistance in budget development, maintaining accounting system, review and implementation of internal controls, and other duties as assigned by the Treasurer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with Accounting major required
- Minimum ten years accounting and finance experience, preferably in governmental accounting
- Minimum five years supervisory experience
- Excellent analytical skills
- High level of personal integrity and ethics
- High level of problem solving skills
- Familiarity with grant writing, administration, and compliance with grant regulations
- Familiarity with the concepts of project management
- Familiarity with the concepts of budget development and compliance with Tribal budgets
- Familiarity with planning concepts and processes including but not limited to program planning
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- In-depth knowledge of grant accounting and compliance with grant regulations including OMB circulars
- Strong budgetary and planning skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel
- Good interpersonal communication and team work skills
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Able to pass drug/alcohol testing
- Clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
