About The Position

GEMRT, a growing public accounting firm based in Coral Gables, is seeking a Controller with a background in public accounting, an entrepreneurial drive, and a focus on operational effectiveness. This role is designed for a compelling leader who will manage the firm’s administrative and financial operations and be actively involved in all management operations. The position offers a growth path to a CFO/COO role and reports directly to the managing partners.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as controller, firm administrator, or operations manager for a CPA firm or similar role in a professional services firm.
  • Understanding of the needs of diverse business functions including HR, IT, marketing, accounting, office services, and client service deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and implement strategic initiatives and business development.
  • Aptitude in decision making and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to integrate required technology.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Great motivational and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in Business Administration or CPA License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm’s administrative and financial operations.
  • Be actively involved in all management operations of the firm.
  • Supervise all accounting functions and systems.
  • Oversee daily operations and administrative processes of Tax Services, Audit & Assurance Services, and Accounting Services departments.
  • Assess the current state of the Operations Department and develop strategic priorities.
  • Prepare, interpret, and present management and efficiency reports to the Partners.
  • Supervise administrative staff and manage physical and remote working facilities.
  • Formulate annual budgets.
  • Be involved in hiring admin/operations staff.
  • Maintain the firm’s insurances and assist in overall firm risk management.
  • Manage all office activities and vendor relationships.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Partner with the Talent team to evaluate compensation and benefits packages.
  • Take ownership over the firm’s internal technology.
  • Lead employees to encourage high performance, dedication, and retention.
  • Facilitate performance evaluation by analyzing and interpreting firm data and metrics.
  • Partner with the Talent team to improve onboarding, orientation, training, and evaluation of staff.
  • Partner with the Talent team regarding internal firm communications.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable the administrative team, including accounting, billing and collections, office management/facilities, payroll, front desk, and IT functions.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Partners in strategic planning for the firm.
  • Manage, monitor, and report on firmwide KPIs.
  • Manage project management and reporting for ongoing process improvement.
  • Manage cash/variation.
  • Prepare, interpret, and present management and efficiency reports.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and analyses.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes.
  • Analyze and report cost variances.
  • Maintain firm’s insurances and assist in overall firm risk management, analysis, and reporting.
