About The Position

The Controller oversees the Vector Security’s entire accounting function, managing financial reporting, budgeting , audit & tax compliance , internal controls , and financial planning, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies & procedures while providing data for strategic decisions, reporting to the CFO. Key duties include preparing financial statements, managing AP/AR/GL teams, coordinating audits, budget & forecasting, and leading accounting staff to maintain financial health and efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS Accounting: Must have an understanding of GAAP, segmented GL codes, chart of accounts, familiarity with ASC606 revenue recognition standard, and financial statements.
  • 10 years' experience required with 4-6 years in public accounting strongly preferred.
  • Managerial Experience: Must have experience in the effective management of a staff to include disciplinary actions, employee coaching, annual reviews and training programs.
  • Advanced Excel Knowledge
  • Company Procedures/Compliance Issues: To determine correct course of action for circumstances and situations.
  • Advanced Financial Analysis: To be capable of analyzing and evaluating financial data to determine validity, reasonableness and accuracy of that data. To be able to identify financial trends. To be able to suggest improvements.
  • Ability to Multitask: To be able to prioritize tasks according to urgency, to be able to delegate and assign duties to staff based on their skills and knowledge. To be able to meet strict deadlines in the delivery of information.
  • Strong Communication Skills : Must be able to communicate effectively and considerately with a large range of individuals from staff to supervisors, peers, auditors and state agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA: CPA Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft D365 ERP & Great Plains experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Preparing internal and external financial statements, forecasts, and reports (e.g., GAAP-compliant).
  • Accounting Operations: Managing daily accounting, general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Leading the budgeting process, monitoring performance, and advising on financial projections.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensuring tax compliance - including sales & use tax oversight, implementing internal controls, and managing audits.
  • Team Leadership: Hiring, training, and managing accounting staff.
  • Strategic Support: Providing financial analysis and insights to help executive leadership make informed decisions.
  • ERP System Management (Key Plus): Play a pivotal role in ERP implementation projects and system configuration. Analyze, design, and improve financial workflows within the ERP for enhanced operational excellence.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and leverage ERP capabilities to implement effective solutions.
