About The Position

Good American is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to lead its accounting operations. This role involves overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and maintaining financial integrity. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, experience in apparel or consumer products, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position reports into the CFO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manager/leadership role; previous experience in a Controller role preferred.
  • A track record of progressively increasing management responsibilities including building and growing a team and developing leaders from within the organization.
  • Experience with e-commerce/retail, consumer goods and inventory highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and retail/e-commerce financials.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, have a strong sense of ownership while balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, providing clear insights to senior leadership.
  • Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate inventory and COGS reporting.
  • Partner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
  • Optimize and scale accounting systems, processes, and team structure in alignment with company growth.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team by fostering professional development and ensuring high levels of performance and accuracy. Provide training, coaching and timely feedback to the team.
