About The Position
The Controller oversees the company’s daily accounting operations, including producing monthly financial statements, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and operating a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, improve the accuracy of reported financial results, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is remote within the United States.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA or similar certification required.
- Proven experience as a Controller.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial processes, including monthly close and reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Experience utilizing AI to drive efficiencies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice To Haves
- Experience at a major accounting firm, such as Big 4, Grant Thornton, or BDO.
- Experience with an exit transaction and acquisition integration.
- Experience with Intacct.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Own the monthly close process, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Oversee account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Own the successful execution of the external audit.
- Manage accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over accounting procedures.
- Mentor and support a team of 7, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
