About The Position

A well-established organic produce company is seeking a Controller to join their team. With fast inventory turns, seasonal fluctuations, and tight margins, accurate financial management and cost control are essential to our operations. The Controller will oversee all financial, accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for this growing company. This role manages three office staff including A/P, A/R, Billing, Payroll and provides financial visibility to support pricing, purchasing, operations, and leadership decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing $70M+ annual revenue.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller role.
Industry experience in produce, perishables, agriculture, distribution, or food/CPG- REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

CPA/CMA strongly preferred
Bilingual in Spanish/English- preferred

Responsibilities

Lead month-end close and produce timely, accurate financial statements with variance analysis.
Manage general ledger, internal controls and accounting policies.
Oversee inventory accounting including cycle counts, shrink/spoilage tracking and FIFO costing.
Supervise A/R, A/P, Billing, Payroll, cash management, and credit/collections.
Drive budgeting, forecasting, and weekly financial performance reporting.
Analyze commodity, customer, and product-line profitability; support pricing and purchasing decisions.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, traceability, food safety, and (if applicable) PACA requirements.
Supports CPA year end engagements/reports (e.g. Year End Reviewed Financial Statements), tax preparation, and related interfacing with external CPA.
Partner with operations, procurement, logistics, and sales to improve costs control and margin performance.
Lead process improvement initiatives in financial workflows, controls and reporting efficiency.
Provide financial oversight on capital investments and operational projects.
