About The Position

The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting, fixed asset, treasury, financial reporting, and compliance functions for Hotel Drover, Hyatt Place Fort Worth Stockyards, Stockyards Hotel, and affiliated Exchange Hotels Management entities. This position provides strategic financial leadership and oversight of multi-property accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, effective internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while serving as a trusted business partner to ownership and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience managing accounting operations across multiple properties, business units, or legal entities.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
  • Experience leading audits, regulatory compliance, and internal control processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, fixed assets, payroll, and bank/balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes across all properties and entities.
  • Prepare, Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Record and maintain fixed asset activity—including acquisitions, capitalization, dispositions, transfers, and depreciation—while ensuring accurate roll-forward schedules.
  • Ensure the accuracy of intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations across multiple legal entities.
  • Evaluate existing financial processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead cash flow management to forecast cash needs at weekly, monthly, and long-range intervals.
  • Own treasury account administration, including management of bank account and credit card processor partnerships.
  • Direct and oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for Hotel Drover, Hyatt Place Fort Worth Stockyards, Stockyards Hotel, and affiliated Exchange Hotels Management entities.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze financial trends, variances, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs), communicating findings to ownership and executive leadership.
  • Monitor financial performance, operating metrics, labor costs, revenues, and expenses to provide recommendations for improving profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, ownership reporting requirements, and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee sales tax, occupancy tax, and other hospitality-related tax reporting and compliance obligations.
  • Analyze and be familiar with tenants, leases, and lender reporting requirements and ensure hotel is in full compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership by providing proactive analysis, strategic recommendations, and business insights.
  • Partner closely with General Managers, Executive Committee members, and department leaders to support operational goals, strategic initiatives, and business decisions.
  • Support capital expenditure planning, asset management initiatives, renovations, acquisitions, and other strategic projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
