About The Position

Narmi is seeking its first Controller to own accounting end-to-end. This role will work directly with the founders and leadership team, providing the numbers used to run the company. It is a hands-on position for a growing company of approximately 150 people. The Controller will be responsible for the general ledger and the associated work.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Proven experience running a full monthly close as the primary accountable person.
  • Experience managing an annual audit and serving as the main point of contact for auditors.
  • Experience with ASC 606, particularly with multi-year software or subscription contracts.
  • Experience bringing accounting functions in-house or rebuilding a non-functional close process.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting decisions to non-accountants.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Fintech, B2B SaaS, or financial infrastructure background.
  • Experience with a fundraise, acquisition, or audit readiness for a transaction.
  • Experience setting up or migrating a General Ledger (GL) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes from start to finish.
  • Own the general ledger and ensure financial reporting and GAAP compliance.
  • Handle revenue recognition under ASC 606, including multi-year contracts with implementation fees and annual escalators.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and make associated judgment calls.
  • Oversee the annual audit process from beginning to end.
  • Manage tax filings, state registrations, and sales tax.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, establishing a control environment suitable for the company's size.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams on financial processes related to SOC 2.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Oversee customer billing for financial institution contracts, including annual increases and true-ups.
  • Process vendor payments and expense reimbursements.
  • Handle cash management and perform account reconciliations.
  • Determine which accounting functions to manage in-house versus outsource and justify these decisions.
  • Improve accounting processes and tooling, such as close checklists, documentation, and systems, to ensure scalability.
