About The Position

The Pauma Band of Mission Indians is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Controller to join our Finance Department. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Tribal Organization and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of financial transactions and reporting. This position plays a key leadership role within the Finance Department and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer, department leadership, auditors, and other organizational stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience in overseeing daily accounting operations and the general ledger.
  • Experience in leading monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Experience in preparing and overseeing financial statements and management reports.
  • Experience in managing account reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
  • Experience in maintaining and strengthening accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Experience in assisting with preparation and monitoring of the annual operating budget.
  • Experience in coordinating annual financial audits and preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Experience in overseeing accounting and financial administration related to grants and restricted funds.
  • Experience in administering and reconciling GWE-related payments in accordance with approved Tribal programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in assisting, training, and providing direction to accounting staff.
  • Experience working closely with the CFO to support financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and organizational financial objectives.

Responsibilities
