About The Position

Vancouver Talmud Torah (“VTT”) is an inclusive Jewish community day school committed to academic excellence and nurturing lifelong learners who engage the world through Jewish traditions and values. Our school serves families from a diverse range of Jewish backgrounds and religious practices. The Controller is an integral part of the Finance team. Reporting to the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR, their role is responsible for the oversight of all financial, accounting, payroll activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. This is a terrific opportunity for a professional who is well-versed in working closely with senior management and thrives in a position of leadership. VTT is currently recruiting a temporary Controller to fill a leave of absence.

Requirements

  • CPA designation
  • A combination of 3-5 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience
  • Experience in working with teams/departments
  • Professional and strong work ethic
  • 2 years experience of working with Quickbooks & Ceridian Dayforce
  • Strong management and people skills
  • Detail oriented and strong organization skills
  • Must be a self-starter, multi-tasker, and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Team player attitude
  • Proficient with systems (i.e.: Microsoft products, google suite)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a highly engaged and fast-paced environment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in human resources
  • Experience with Veracross Student billing

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all financial, accounting, payroll activities
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with budget management
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with financial analysis
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with payroll
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with forecasting
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with accounts payable
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with accounts receivable
  • Assisting the CFO/Business Manager & Director of HR with financial reporting
  • Managing administrative tasks associated with employment contracts and HR (ex. benefits, RRSP’s, etc)
