About The Position
Baylands Family Credit Union is seeking a Controller to lead our accounting, financial reporting, and electronic services functions. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this role is responsible for the credit union's general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, audits, regulatory reporting, cash management, investments, asset/liability management, and electronic services operations. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced accountant or finance professional who is ready to take ownership of an accounting environment, lead a team, and grow into broader credit union operations.
Requirements
- Strong accounting experience in general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, financial analysis, and audits
- Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and financial or regulatory deadlines
- Leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to lead a team
Nice To Haves
- Credit union, banking, financial institution, nonprofit, or regulated-industry experience is preferred
- Experience with NCUA reporting, ALM, investments, ACH, electronic banking, digital banking, or payment services is a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting and financial operations, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
- Support NCUA Call Reports, regulatory examinations, audits, and compliance requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies
- Support cash management, liquidity, investments, and asset/liability management (ALM)
- Partner with the President/CEO and leadership team on financial planning and decision-making
- Communicate financial information to leadership and the Board
- Lead and develop accounting and electronic services team members
- Oversee electronic services, including ACH, debit cards, ATMs, online banking, mobile banking, bill pay, mobile deposit, eStatements, and payment operations
- Work with vendors and internal partners to resolve operational issues and improve processes
