About The Position

Own day-to-day accounting operations. Maintain the general ledger, manage revenue recognition and other core accounting workflows, and ensure the data and supporting inputs underlying the company’s financial statements are complete, accurate, and timely. Build the processes and controls. Design and implement the accounting infrastructure, workflows, and internal controls needed to support a rapidly scaling company operating across multiple merchant partnerships simultaneously. Bring structure to a high-volume, operationally intense environment. Translate a dense array of financial activity, including subscription billing, device procurement, and depreciation into clean, auditable financials. Partner cross-functionally with legal, finance, engineering, and operations. Report into legal department and work closely across teams to ensure purchase orders, transaction data, inventory activity, and other accounting inputs are accurately captured and reflected in the company’s books and financial statements. Prepare the company for audit readiness and compliance. Interface with external accounting and audit partners to support financial reviews, SOC compliance, and the reporting rigor expected as the company scales into its next stage. Shape the accounting team. You'll help define the function's roadmap and eventually build a team reporting to you. Own and evolve the company's in-house ledger. Work closely with engineering to ensure the ledger accurately reflects our subscription and billing workflows.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in an accounting manager, controllership, or senior accounting leadership role
  • CPA required
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, with particular strength in revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and long-lived asset accounting (ASC 360)
  • Comfortable operating hands-on today while building toward a team and system that can support the company at significantly greater scale
  • Thrives in high-ownership, fast-paced environments where speed and precision both matter

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a high-growth startup or a Big 4/public accounting foundation with a transition to industry
  • Background in fintech, consumer leasing, e-commerce, or subscription-based businesses
  • Experience working with external audit and accounting firms (e.g., SOC readiness, financial audits)
  • Prior experience managing or building a small accounting team
