About The Position

Exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced medical team within a growing federally qualified community health center. HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc. “The Heart of Our Community” provides comprehensive services including adult/pediatric medical care, health education, health assessment and screenings, gynecology, cardiology, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and adult/pediatric dental care. The Controller is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller leads day-to-day accounting operations, general ledger management, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, payroll oversight, accounts payable, grant accounting, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance. The Controller provides financial analysis and operational insight to support management decision-making and ensures accounting practices comply with GAAP, Uniform Guidance, HRSA requirements, and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including demonstrated responsibility for financial reporting, general ledger management, month-end/year-end close, audit support, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and experience applying accounting principles to complex transactions and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated experience with ERP/general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting systems
  • Must submit a CORI releases form and demonstrate proof of being free from disqualifying information.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in both onsite and remote work environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum three years of supervisory or accounting leadership experience preferred.
  • Healthcare, FQHC, nonprofit healthcare, or other highly regulated accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with grant accounting and federal grant compliance, including Uniform Guidance, strongly preferred.
  • NetSuite or comparable ERP experience preferred.
