About The Position

CORE Transformers is seeking a visionary Controller to lead their finance and accounting department at their Seneca, SC headquarters. This pivotal role will build the finance department and implement strategies to fuel the company's explosive growth. CORE Transformers is a leader in electrical power transformers serving commercial & industrial markets. The company is small with less than 40 people but is growing more than 100% year-over-year. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate closely with the executive team. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves to get things done. The role is broad but shallow, owning all facets of finance including accounting, receivables, payables, cash flow, FP&A, costing, reporting, etc. The Controller will have a budget to hire additional roles as needed to augment the existing team and keep up with rapid growth. This is an on-site position based in Seneca, SC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience (6+ years) in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must mention the word 'abacus' when applying.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with CORE Transformers’ growth objectives.
  • Help chart a course for the future & accomplish growth goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial activities including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, etc.
  • Implement robust financial systems and processes to support scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead key initiatives such as financial reporting packages for the executive team, expense tracking system implementation, and inventory audit process development in collaboration with operations.
