About The Position

The Area Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple locations within an assigned area. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, budget compliance, and effective financial planning. The Area Controller partners with operational leaders to analyze performance, identify opportunities, and support sound business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
  • Experience overseeing multiple locations, preferably in hospitality, food service, entertainment, or a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both accounting and operational teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel between assigned locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional accounting certification, such as CPA, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial activities for multiple assigned locations.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and variance reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of revenue, expenses, labor, food costs, and other key financial metrics.
  • Partner with General Managers, Directors of Operations, and other leaders to improve financial performance.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and overall profitability.
  • Investigate financial variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, purchasing, and cash-handling processes.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Provide financial guidance and training to location leadership and accounting teams.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes, and increase profitability.
  • Ensure all financial data is accurately maintained in company systems.
  • Travel regularly between assigned locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
