About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, strategic Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations, accounting functions, and regulatory reporting for our growing portfolio of senior living communities across Idaho. The ideal candidate must possess a deep background in senior living, skilled nursing, or extended care financial operations. You will lead a dedicated accounting team, optimize financial performance, ensure strict regulatory compliance, and provide critical data to drive regional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive financial management experience specifically within senior living, assisted living, skilled nursing (SNF), or extended care environments.
  • 7+ years of total corporate accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role (Assistant Controller or Controller level).

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with industry-specific ERP software (e.g., MatrixCare, PointClickCare, Yardi, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounting Operations: Oversee billing, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, cash flow management, and general ledger functions.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes for multiple facilities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Financial Statements: Prepare and present comprehensive consolidated financial statements, variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts to executive leadership.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with facility administrators and department heads to develop, implement, and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Payer Sources: Manage complex revenue cycles involving Medicare, Idaho Medicaid (state-specific guidelines), managed care, and private pay structures.
  • Cost Reporting: Direct the preparation and submission of annual Medicare/Medicaid cost reports and statutory financial filings.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain rigorous compliance with GAAP, state of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare regulations, and federal healthcare mandates.
  • Audit Management: Act as the primary liaison for external financial audits, state cost report audits, and tax preparations.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate, implement, and upgrade accounting systems and internal controls to scale with organizational growth.
  • Team Development: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate corporate accounting staff and facility-level business office managers.
  • KPI Tracking: Monitor industry-specific metrics including occupancy rates, Per Patient Day (PPD) labor metrics, and aging AR accounts.
