About The Position

Grain Millers, Inc. is seeking a Divisional Controller to lead accounting operations and deliver financial insights for their Procurement business unit and St. Peter plant location. This role is crucial for ensuring financial integrity, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving performance through accurate reporting, planning, and analysis. The Controller will maintain strong financial controls, partner with business leaders to improve outcomes, optimize costs, and support continued growth. The position reports to the Corporate Controller and involves close collaboration with plant leadership, commodity traders, and business unit leaders, acting as a trusted advisor at the intersection of finance and operations. The role also includes partnering with cross-functional groups on system implementations, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA or advanced degree preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF) and data analysis capabilities
• Proven ability to handle financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close processes, including general ledger entries, financial statements, and account reconciliations
• Provide financial planning and analysis, including budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting
• Monitor and analyze inventory valuations, conversion costs, and operational yields
• Partner with traders and business leaders to analyze market data, strategies, and performance drivers
• Support audits, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
