About The Position

Soukup, Bush & Associates is Northern Colorado's largest CPA firm, with approximately 50 associates providing a range of professional services. We are seeking a Controller focused on our internal business operations. While in a typical mid-size business, the Controller is the top financial expert, this role operates within a firm with many financial and accounting experts. The Controller will oversee and be responsible for typical Controller functions, including accounting, financial reporting and analysis, outside reporting, taxes, property and casualty insurance and claims, and oversight of outsourced administrative functions such as HR, payroll, and benefits. This role requires strong leadership, emotional intelligence, excellent communication, organizational skills, detail-orientation, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the firm, its clients, its team, and the challenge of building for the future. This is not the right opportunity for those who prefer isolation, lack drive and accountability, struggle with multitasking, or cannot effectively manage assertive communication and anticipate future needs.

Requirements

• At least five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a professional services firm.
• Education typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence optimal outcomes with or without line authority.
• An amazing combination of emotional intelligence, excellent communication and organizational skills, detail-orientation, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and be responsible for accounting functions.
• Manage financial reporting and analysis.
• Handle outside reporting.
• Oversee tax-related matters.
• Manage property and casualty insurance and claims.
• Provide oversight of outsourced administrative functions such as HR, payroll, and benefits.
