Controller - Pacific Northwest - Full-Time or Part-Time

Successful candidates must be comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on-site, interacting with clients, their staff, Board of Directors, and Finance Committees regularly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Recent nonprofit accounting experience, strongly preferred.
- Passion for supporting nonprofit organizations and their missions.
- Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor, proactively identify issues, and recommend solutions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills, with the confidence to lead conversations and influence outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, work independently, and thrive in a hybrid environment.
- Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with multiple general ledger systems, particularly QuickBooks, and electronic bill payment platforms.
Nice To Haves
- Public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience preferred.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients.
- Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
- Financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
- Recommending and implementing improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
- Transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), and payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers.
- Analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
- Grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.
- Prepare for and manage annual audit.
- Client and staff training opportunities.
