About The Position

Your Part-Time Controller, LLC (YPTC) is a national leader in providing outsourced accounting services to nonprofit organizations and is seeking to add a talented Controller to join their team. Successful candidates must be comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on-site, interacting with clients, their staff, Board of Directors, and Finance Committees regularly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Recent nonprofit accounting experience, strongly preferred.
  • Passion for supporting nonprofit organizations and their missions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor, proactively identify issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills, with the confidence to lead conversations and influence outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, work independently, and thrive in a hybrid environment.
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with multiple general ledger systems, particularly QuickBooks, and electronic bill payment platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience preferred.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients.
  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
  • Financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
  • Transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), and payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers.
  • Analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage annual audit.
  • Client and staff training opportunities.
