About The Position

The Controller is responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations and financial control environment while ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial activities. This role supports executive leadership by delivering timely, actionable financial insights and ensuring compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and other regulatory requirements within a government contracting environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • Strong experience with Deltek Costpoint
  • Experience in a government contracting environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply contracts from a financial perspective
  • Experience with Fixed Price, Time & Materials (T&M), and Cost-Plus contract types
  • Experience supporting organizations with multiple divisions and multiple cost pools
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and updating operating budgets

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and overseeing the Deltek Costpoint accounting system, ensuring accurate and timely presentation of financial results
  • Developing and updating the annual company operating budget in support of the Chief Operating Officer for presentation to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, labor distribution, and timekeeping functions
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing accounting staff, including training, performance management, and professional development in coordination with Human Resources
  • Establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure audit readiness
  • Overseeing revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and government contract requirements
  • Ensuring timely billing, accurate invoicing, and collection of accounts receivable
  • Monitoring cash receipts, disbursements, and cash flow forecasting to maximize effective utilization of company resources
  • Managing bank relationships and supporting financing or treasury activities, as applicable
  • Overseeing GAAP audits conducted by independent external auditors and serving as the primary point of contact, including preparation and review of requested documentation
  • Supporting audits and reviews by regulatory agencies, including DCAA and DCMA
  • Leading and supporting the development of annual incurred cost submissions, indirect rate structures, provisional billing rates, and cost pools
  • Monitoring indirect rates and supporting forward pricing and rate forecasting efforts
  • Assisting with quarterly and annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Partnering with program and contract managers to review project financial performance, cost controls, and forecasts
  • Supporting contract management and reviewing contract terms from a financial and compliance perspective
  • Developing pricing proposals, cost estimates, cost narratives, and financial modeling for new and recompete contracts
  • Reviewing and approving cost transfers and ensuring proper documentation and compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with FAR, CAS, GAAP, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Overseeing multi-state payroll processes and related compliance requirements
  • Leading preparation and issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Providing executive leadership with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information and analysis
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements, automation, and control enhancements, including initiatives to reduce days to close
  • Partnering with Human Resources on compensation analysis, bonus calculations, and benefit cost tracking
  • Coordinating tax-related activities with external advisors and review applicable filings
  • Maintaining appropriate financial documentation and records retention in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Supporting system upgrades, integrations, and enhancements related to financial operations, and
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
