About The Position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial, accounting, and reporting activities within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, supports operational decision-making, and drives efficiency. The Controller partners closely with leadership to manage financial performance, cost controls, and strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and job costing systems.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
  • Effective communication with both financial and non-financial teams.
  • Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls.
  • Analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Oversee job costing, standard costing, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor labor, material, and overhead costs within welding and fabrication operations.
  • Partner with operations to improve margins and production efficiency.
  • Evaluate inventory valuation, work-in-progress, and COGS accuracy.
  • Support pricing decisions and project profitability analysis.
  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop realistic financial plans.
  • Track performance against budget and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
  • Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements.
  • Optimize accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Supervise accounting staff in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting functions.
  • Develop team capabilities and ensure accountability.
  • Establish efficient processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
