About The Position

MAC Mechanical is looking for a hands-on construction accounting leader who understands how financial performance connects directly to jobs, crews, production, and field operations. The right candidate will partner closely with Project Managers, identify issues early, improve visibility into job performance, and help drive profitability across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Construction accounting and job costing experience
  • Strong understanding of WIP reporting, project financials, and construction operations
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
  • Experience with QuickBooks and integrated construction accounting systems
  • Knowledge of payroll, labor allocation, certified payroll, and cost tracking
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or trade contractor experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate job cost tracking (labor, materials, subcontractors)
  • Partner with Project Managers to review job performance
  • Identify cost overruns and margin fade early
  • Support and improve WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting
  • Own monthly financials (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Lead month-end close (accurate and on time)
  • Maintain integrity of all financial data
  • Oversee progress billing and T&M invoicing
  • Manage AR and collections
  • Provide clear visibility into cash flow
  • Improve billing processes and timelines
  • Ensure accurate cost coding of invoices
  • Oversee payables and vendor management
  • Support payroll and proper labor cost allocation
  • Ensure accurate payroll, certified payroll submissions, labor cost tracking, and Davis-Bacon reporting
  • Clean up and standardize accounting workflows
  • Improve job costing accuracy and consistency
  • Optimize accounting and job costing systems
