About The Position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effectiveness of internal controls. This role helps manage day-to-day accounting functions while providing financial leadership, operational insight, and strategic support to executive management. The Controller directs accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, fixed assets, cash management, financial reporting, budgeting support, and audit coordination. The position also plays a key role in process improvement, ERP optimization, and financial planning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 7-10 years of directly related experience in accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Quickbooks preferred; proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to work independently and as a team leader.
  • Attention to detail and a high-level of accuracy.
  • Strong ethics; able to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the accounting field.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity working in the beverage manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Experience in Federal Excise Tax Compliance and Filing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and supporting reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and operational performance.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentations for executive leadership.
  • Support cash flow management and financial forecasting activities.
  • Direct daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Manage revenue recognition, accruals, reserves, and intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee banking activities, reconciliations, and cash controls.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, audit requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and act as primary contact for external auditors.
  • Support tax preparation activities and coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff.
  • Establish departmental goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Oversee ERP system functionality related to accounting and financial reporting.
  • Support ERP implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems.
  • Assist executive leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, financing activities, or special projects as needed.
