About The Position

Insight Restoration is looking for an experienced Controller & Technical Accounting Manager to take ownership of the accuracy, integrity, and technical side of our accounting operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys digging into the details, improving systems, and turning complex financial information into clear, reliable answers for leadership. It is not a traditional Controller position filled with meetings and high-level oversight —you'll be actively working in the numbers, systems, and processes that drive the business. Insight Restoration is a locally owned disaster-restoration company serving the Twin Cities. We help families and businesses recover after water, fire, and other property losses. We're looking for someone who wants to become a trusted financial resource within the company and have a meaningful impact on how our accounting systems and processes operate as we continue to grow. Insight Restoration is a Woman Owned, Small Business that specializes in commercial/large loss disaster mitigation, including but not limited to, water damage, fire damage, storm damage, and mold remediation. Our customers and partners receive a unique service experience that boasts integrity, quality and efficiency, which is second to none. Our patented drying technology, that we have created and developed in-house, along with the unique service experience we provide, is proof that our vision is becoming a reality. Our patented Titan 5000 Desiccant Dehumidifiers represent the only major advancement in desiccant technology in the last 40 years. It uses one quarter of the fuel of a standard, generator-driven desiccant dehumidifier, and at 67 decibels, they are very quiet, minimizing business interruption. Our patented Portable Sublimation Vacuum Freeze Dryer is also a unique piece of equipment, as we can bring this machine to our customers, which is crucial for those vital and confidential documents that cannot leave the premises. With large caster wheels it will not damage the floor during setup and relocation, and it can dry up to 50 banker-boxes worth of documents at a time. Insight Restoration can also offer many specialty services, such as: content cleaning, sewer backup, formaldehyde, hoarder, eviction and foreclosure clean-ups, as well as building climate control.

Requirements

Strong technical accounting knowledge and understand accounting beyond simply entering transactions
Exceptionally strong in Excel
Love finding discrepancies and figuring out why something doesn't balance
Experience with month-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
Can research complicated problems and develop practical solutions
Enjoy improving systems and creating repeatable processes
Can work independently and take full ownership of your responsibilities
Can explain complex financial information clearly to leadership

Responsibilities

General ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
Financial statements, cash flow, A/R, gross profit, and management reporting
Job costing and profitability reporting for mitigation and reconstruction projects
Advanced Excel models, analysis, reconciliations, and reporting tools
QuickBooks and integrations across payroll, expense, timekeeping, job-management, and other accounting systems
Internal controls, accounting procedures, and process improvements
Payroll and benefits accounting reconciliations
T&M billing, documentation, and reconciliation
Accounting and payroll/billing reconciliation for an affiliated company
Financial support for contracts, agreements, audits, tax preparation, and special projects
