About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Controller to join our team and serve as the senior accounting and financial leader for Saminco Manufacturing, LLC, a well-established industrial operation. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, audit management, cash flow oversight, and the overall accounting function. As a trusted business partner, the Controller works closely with executive and operational leaders to provide accurate financial insights, strengthen processes, improve profitability, and support sound business decisions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Eight or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including hands-on controllership or senior accounting leadership responsibility.
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, general-ledger accounting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, physical inventory, cycle counts, reserves, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, process improvement, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to lead accounting staff and partner effectively with operational leaders, executives, auditors, lenders, and advisors.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or comparable advanced accounting credential preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, mining, industrial services, equipment repair, project-based operations, or a similar environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, budgets, cash-flow reporting, and management reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet, reconciliations, and supporting records.
  • Analyze financial performance, explain variances and trends, and recommend actions to improve results.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliation, valuation, controls, reserves, and reporting.
  • Lead cycle-count and physical inventory programs and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain costing methodologies and analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances.
  • Partner with operations to improve inventory accuracy, cost control, margins, and profitability.
  • Lead external financial audits, inventory observations, tax requests, lender reporting, and related examinations.
  • Maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, documentation, and approval processes.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable company policies.
  • Address audit findings and control gaps through documented corrective action.
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Monitor cash, working capital, receivables, payables, purchasing commitments, and inventory investment.
  • Support pricing, margin analysis, capital expenditures, staffing, and other business decisions.
  • Develop meaningful financial and operational performance measures for leadership.
  • Lead, develop, and oversee office and administrative staff.
  • Establish procedures, workflows, calendars, document retention standards, and cross-training programs.
  • Serve as the General Manager's primary administrative partner.
  • Escalate operational risks, control issues, vendor concerns, and employee matters promptly and professionally.
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while establishing clear responsibilities and review expectations.
  • Oversee core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll interfaces.
  • Establish strong procedures, documentation, backup coverage, and accountability across the accounting function.
  • Identify and implement practical process, system, reporting, and control improvements.
