About The Position

Perform disassembly and assembly of new control valves, regulators, and relief valves. This includes reading and interpreting sales orders, customer data sheets, and OEM manuals. Responsibilities involve safely disassembling and evaluating valve and actuator parts, performing necessary cleaning and machining, assembling and calibrating valves and positioners, and testing products according to code requirements. Accurate completion of test reports and quality control sheets is essential. The role also includes preparing products for shipping, ensuring adherence to Total Customer Commitment (TCC) standards, and supporting colleagues. This position has three levels, with progression based on knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years in the valve repair industry preferred
  • Basic knowledge fundamentals, including Control Valves, Pneumatic Safety Systems, and Rotary Valves.
  • Ability to read and understand customer data spec sheets for final assembly of control valves and regulators.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial regulators.
  • Basic knowledge of various pneumatic positioners and controllers typically used on control valves.
  • Ability to use basic hand and pneumatic tools confidently and safely.
  • Working as a self-directed field/shop environment worker.
  • Experience with bending and running tubing is preferred.
  • Read and record measurements using standard measuring tools such as manual torque wrenches, dial calipers, Vernier calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, tape measure, and scale.

  • Valid State issued driver’s license

  • Experience with bending and running tubing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new control valves, including sliding stem, rotary ball, rotary butterfly, high performance rotary butterfly, bolted bonnet gate, globe, check, soft-seated ball, and pressure globe valves.
  • Disassemble actuators such as double acting pneumatic sliding stem piston, double acting pneumatic rotary piston, single acting sliding stem spring and diaphragm, and single acting rotary spring and diaphragm actuators.
  • Evaluate parts, maintain material awareness, mark parts correctly, and maintain organization and segregation.
  • Perform chemical solvent cleaning and inspection of parts, ensuring critical dimension requirements are met.
  • Complete all quality control sheets, including date, sign-off, and status.
  • Understand and comply with all special assembly requirements, factories, and customer requirements.
  • Perform machining processes such as drilling and pinning stems using a drill press or pneumatic tools, and polishing flange and sealing surfaces with a hand grinder.
  • Assemble control valves from repair order instructions, customer test-report/specification sheets, and OEM IOM manuals.
  • Perform calibration of all positioners and/or controllers.
  • Install stem packing.
  • Attach actuators to valves, set correct valve travel, and set correct bench set on actuator.
  • Tube up positioners and controllers to the actuator along with any other accessories on the assembly.
  • Test control valves according to applicable Code test requirements using compressed air, water, and nitrogen, applying and utilizing manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Accurately and thoroughly complete test reports with all required detail.
  • Tube up, calibrate, and troubleshoot various pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers (e.g., Fisher 3582, 3582I, 3610J, 3610JP, 3620, 3620JP, DVC6200, DVC2000, C1P, 2500) as per factory and/or customer spec sheets.
  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new regulators and relief valves, including direct operated and pilot operated types.
  • Perform spring, orifice, and body changes to various types of regulators and relief valves.
  • Test all regulators and relief valves.
  • Set regulators and relief valves to desired set point.
  • Tag, seal, and prepare products for shipping, including priming and painting products while adhering to all safety rules and proper waste disposal.
  • Palletize and protect tags, flanges, and threaded areas during the painting process.
  • Uphold JHC TCC (Total Customer Commitment) standards.
  • Actively and enthusiastically support JHC colleagues.
  • Build and cultivate solid relationships internally and externally.
  • Travel when required and applicable.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
