About The Position

The Senior Controls Software Development Engineer serves as the technical lead for automated sensor calibration systems and test stand equipment. The role develops the software, controls, data architecture, and analytics infrastructure needed to automate calibration processes and maintain complete traceability of calibration records throughout their lifecycle. The engineer works with controls, instrumentation, metrology, quality, operations, and data teams to build National Instruments data acquisition systems, develop LabVIEW calibration software, and establish pipelines and analysis tools for collecting, storing, validating, and analyzing calibration data. The position also evaluates data-platform architectures, including integration with Palantir Foundry and related technologies. Work is performed under an NQA-1 quality program in an NRC-regulated environment, with rigorous requirements for accuracy, repeatability, technical rigor, and documentation. The technical lead drives the design and implementation of calibration systems for pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors, as well as specialized test equipment. The role establishes software architecture, coding standards, reusable libraries, and quality practices; develops control logic for automated sequencing, stabilization, and setpoint management; and integrates calibration systems with enterprise data technologies. The engineer designs data pipelines and models linking equipment records with reference standards, procedures, operators, asset identifiers, and results. The role also develops analytical tools for calibration curves, uncertainty, drift, statistical trends, and pass/fail criteria, along with dashboards and reports for equipment status, schedules, out-of-tolerance conditions, and long-term performance. Additional work includes developing operator interfaces, authoring technical and calibration documentation, and ensuring systems are verified and validated through rigorous testing. The position maintains compliance with NQA-1 software quality standards, configuration management, version control, and audit-ready documentation practices. In partnership with cybersecurity, quality, and operational technology teams, the engineer supports data integrity, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements, investigates anomalies, troubleshoots system issues, and leads root-cause analyses. The role also provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and coordinates vendors and contractors to support project execution.
