The Senior Controls Software Development Engineer serves as the technical lead for automated sensor calibration systems and test stand equipment. The role develops software, controls, data architecture, and analytics infrastructure to automate calibration processes and provide lifecycle traceability of calibration records. Working with controls, instrumentation, metrology, quality, operations, and data teams, the engineer designs National Instruments (NI) data acquisition systems, develops LabVIEW calibration software, and creates data pipelines and analysis tools. The position also evaluates data platform architectures, including integration with Palantir Foundry and related technologies. Work is performed under an NQA-1 quality program in an NRC-regulated environment, with rigorous requirements for accuracy, repeatability, and documentation. The technical lead designs and implements calibration systems for pressure, temperature, flow, and level instrumentation and specialized test stand equipment. The engineer selects and integrates NI data acquisition hardware and reference standards, develops LabVIEW applications, defines software architecture and quality practices, and develops automated sequencing and process controls using LabVIEW and PLC technologies where appropriate. The role evaluates data management solutions and leads integration with Palantir Foundry, databases, historians, and enterprise technologies. It builds data pipelines and models that link equipment records, reference standards, procedures, operators, asset identifiers, and results. The engineer develops analytical tools for calibration curves, measurement uncertainty, drift, statistical trends, and pass/fail criteria, as well as dashboards and reports for equipment status, schedules, out-of-tolerance conditions, and performance metrics. The engineer also develops operator interfaces; authors software requirements, data specifications, test procedures, and calibration instructions; and verifies and validates systems through rigorous testing. The position maintains NQA-1 software quality, configuration management, version control, and audit-ready documentation practices. In partnership with cybersecurity, quality, and operational technology teams, the engineer supports data integrity, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements; investigates measurement anomalies; troubleshoots system issues; and leads root-cause analyses. The senior engineer mentors junior engineers, provides cross-disciplinary technical leadership, and coordinates vendors and contractors.
