About The Position

Control Room Technician 1 is an entry-level, part-time position offering hands-on training in live event production. Technicians receive structured training and shadow support while assisting with production systems during games, concerts, and special events. The role supports in-arena presentations for the San Jose Sharks, San Jose Barracuda, San Jose PWHL, concerts, and other rental events. Training includes one four-hour onboarding session, three live-event shadow shifts, and an assigned mentor with skill check-ins.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old or have a valid work permit from their current school by the time of hire.
Familiarity with production equipment through school, church, or community access.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Clear communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and crouch for extended periods, with or without accommodation.
Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead, and lift up to 45 lbs, with or without accommodation.
Ability to navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities and go up and down stairs multiple times during a shift, with or without accommodation.
Ability to work in low-light and high-noise environments during live events.

Responsibilities

Shadow and assist experienced production staff.
Participate in setup, teardown, and operation of cameras and shading/PTZ systems, replay systems, playback systems, LED signage, audio equipment, character generation systems, lighting, and technical directing systems.
Assist with cabling, labeling, and backstage organization.
Attend training sessions and complete required learning shifts.
Follow directions and production cues, maintain close attention to detail, and stay task-focused during live events.
