About The Position

ArcelorMittal Exploitation minière Canada is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor in Fermont, who will report to the Section Chief – Processes. The role consists of planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the work carried out in the business sector, representing a team of about fifteen employees, in compliance with current health and safety and environmental policies and the company's values. The person acts as a facilitator for collaboration so that everyone works towards a common goal through attentive supervision of human and material resources and rigorous monitoring of work progress, in order to meet deadlines, costs, and productivity levels set. The supervisor, through their leadership, will be the bearer of decisions within your team and will stimulate continuous improvement and operational excellence in order to increase results.

Requirements

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in analytical chemistry or a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or any equivalent training.
  • 5 years of relevant experience related to supervised tasks.
  • Good experience in human resources management.
  • Good knowledge of computer tools is required (IVARA, SAP, Excel).
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and the environment, with concrete achievements in these areas.
  • Ability to inspire confidence, communicate effectively, and build strong interpersonal relationships by valuing teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proven abilities to plan, organize, and achieve results by guiding and empowering their team.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills, independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to manage change and ambiguous situations with integrity and influence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the department's health and safety programs to ensure employee safety.
  • Monitor internal and external calibration results.
  • Ensure the quality and availability of specialized equipment.
  • Distribute daily activities among each member of their team.
  • Actively participate in all interventions related to personnel, budget management, etc.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment used and methods employed as needed to meet quality and OHS requirements.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring and coordinate activities to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard for Mont-Wright.
