About The Position

MASA is seeking a hands-on contracts attorney for a full-time U.S. remote or hybrid role based in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. Reporting to the General Counsel as Counsel, Contracts & Legal Operations, this attorney will manage the company’s day-to-day contracting and help shape responsible adoption of AI in the Legal Department. The role uses AI-enabled legal tools on agreements while relying on independent legal judgment and strong confidentiality controls. The Counsel will own the full agreement lifecycle for a range of commercial agreements, advise on healthcare and insurance matters including HIPAA, privacy, and data security, and translate contract terms into business exposure and risk analyses. The position will also develop and improve contracting processes and tools, train stakeholders, report on performance, collaborate with teams across MASA, support IP and marketing reviews, and manage outside counsel when needed. Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in good standing.
At least 3 years of progressively responsible legal experience, including substantial in-house responsibility for commercial contracts.
Healthcare and/or insurance experience, including negotiating Business Associate Agreements and advising on HIPAA, privacy, and security requirements.
Demonstrated ability to independently draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements and explain risk to senior stakeholders.
Hands-on experience using AI-enabled contract or legal tools for issue spotting, comparison, summarization, obligation extraction, or risk analysis.
Disciplined validation of AI outputs and strong confidentiality controls.
Experience improving contract-review or contract-lifecycle processes through AI, templates, playbooks, or workflow technology.
Ability to work independently in a lean legal department supporting multiple business units.

Responsibilities

Draft, negotiate, and manage vendor, technology/SaaS, data-processing, licensing, provider/network, consulting, and marketing agreements from intake through signature, repository, and renewal.
Use AI-enabled legal tools to analyze contract terms, compare drafts, identify issues, summarize obligations, and triage risk, validating outputs with independent legal judgment.
Help establish practical governance guardrails for AI use in legal work that protect privilege, confidentiality, personal data, and PHI.
Advise on HIPAA, Business Associate Agreements, privacy, and data security, and translate contract terms into business exposure, risk analyses, and executive summaries for reviewers and signers.
Build and improve the contracting function, including intake, triage, templates, playbooks, dashboards, and self-service tools using AI and workflow technology.
Lead training on the Contract Review Management SOP.
Deliver monthly KPI reporting to the General Counsel.
Partner with Finance, Procurement, Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and HR.
Support IP and marketing review.
Manage outside counsel when needed.
