About The Position

The Manager, Contracting Specialist is a member of the Provider Contracting team and part of the Legal Department. The Manager, Contracting Specialist provides leadership and operational oversight for the Provider Contracting Department and is accountable for the effectiveness, consistency, and quality of the team’s contracting activities. In addition to participating in drafting of provider agreements and associated documents, the Manager role includes setting priorities, providing direction on complex or non-standard matters, developing contracting standards, resolving or escalating issues, and serving as the team’s primary liaison with leadership and other functions across the organization. The Manager supervises a small team of Contracting Specialists and serves as the first level of review and escalation for contractual issues that fall outside established parameters or require additional judgment. The position is responsible for ensuring that team members apply contract standards consistently, that higher-risk or non-standard provisions are appropriately identified and escalated, and that contracting matters move efficiently through the organization. In addition to people-management responsibilities, the Manager maintains hands-on responsibility for drafting and reviewing complex or sensitive contract language and provides subject-matter guidance to Contracting Specialists and internal business partners. The position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to details, strong written and verbal communication skills, critical thinkings skills and excellent time management skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required.
Paralegal Certification
Significant relevant experience in contract administration, contract management, paralegal work, legal operations, or a related contracting function.
Demonstrated experience independently drafting, reviewing, and revising contractual language
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment, with a high focus on accuracy.
High level of proficiency with CONGA and MS Office products, including Word, Excel and SharePoint.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with preparation of contracts is preferred.
Experience with WORKDAY a plus.
Demonstrated experience independently drafting, reviewing, and revising contractual language.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex or non-standard contractual issues and determine when escalation is appropriate.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain contractual issues recommendations to legal and non-legal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Evaluate non-standard terms, proposed revisions, business priorities, and contractual risks to determine appropriate resolution paths and when Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, or leadership review is required.
Serve as the primary resource and first point of escalation for complex, unusual, sensitive, or non-standard contracting matters that cannot be resolved through established procedures or standard language.
Maintain oversight of the quality, consistency, responsiveness, and accuracy of departmental contracting activities and ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards.
Draft, review, revise, and support negotiations of complex or material contract terms, providing guidance on the interpretation and application of approved language, templates, and organizational standards.
Data management duties including maintaining accurate information in CONGA for each clinical provider.
Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, leadership, and other internal stakeholders to resolve contractual issues, facilitate timely decision-making, and support organizational objectives.
Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance management, and day-to-day leadership to Contracting Specialists, supporting employee development and team effectiveness.
Drafting contracts, amendments, and letter agreements for clinical new hires, existing employees, and independent contractors.
Track departmental workload, contract status, performance trends, and relevant metrics; communicate significant issues, priorities, and departmental performance to leadership as appropriate.
Develop and maintain standard contract language, templates, playbooks, procedures, documentation standards, guidance materials, and escalation protocols to promote consistency and efficiency.
Represent the Contracting Department in cross-functional meetings and initiatives, including efforts related to contracting processes, systems, templates, organizational requirements, and contract record maintenance.
Monitor contracting activity, workflows, recurring issues, and resource constraints; proactively identify and implement opportunities to improve turnaround times, quality, processes, and stakeholder experience.
Identify and escalate contractual matters presenting potential legal, financial, compliance, operational, or business risk, clearly communicating key considerations, potential impacts, and recommended actions.
Establish team priorities, assign and balance workloads, and monitor contract volume, deadlines, deliverables, and resource capacity to ensure timely completion of contracting activities.
