About The Position

As a Manager in Contracting, you will lead day-to-day contracting support for assigned Deluxe business units, including contract negotiations, complex negotiations, redlines, RFP/RFI support, staff supervision, approvals, and signature readiness. Manages assigned contracting staff, provides coaching and escalation support, and helps ensure work is completed with appropriate speed, quality, risk awareness, and consistency. Works closely with Legal, Sales, Finance, Product, Operations, Compliance, InfoSec, Contract Administration, and Contract Implementation to support revenue execution while protecting Deluxe’s contractual, financial, regulatory, and operational interests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Legal, Business or related field and 7 years of Drafting, redlining, negotiating, RFP support, contract operations, and staff supervision or team leadership or HS/GED and 9 years of Drafting, redlining, negotiating, RFP support, contract operations, and staff supervision or team leadership
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • JD, MBA, paralegal certificate, contract management certification, or equivalent advanced contracting experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience negotiating commercial, customer, partner, vendor, financial services, data, merchant services, credit bureau, or other regulated agreements.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, negotiation judgment, business judgment, stakeholder management, workload management, and ability to coach others on high-quality documents, issue spotting, redlines, and efficient contract processes

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises day-to-day contracting activity for assigned business units, including intake prioritization, contract drafting, redlines, RFP/RFI contract review, negotiation support, escalation management, and signature readiness.
  • Ensures work is routed appropriately, business-critical deals are prioritized, and contract activity is moving at the speed required by the business.
  • Manages assigned team members, including coaching, training, workload balancing, performance feedback, development planning, and quality review.
  • Helps staff improve negotiation judgment, issue spotting, document quality, process discipline, and stakeholder communication.
  • Reviews, drafts, redlines, and negotiates complex customer, partner, vendor, data, financial services, and business-to-business agreements, as applicable to the assigned portfolio.
  • Identifies legal, commercial, privacy, data-use, operational, financial, liability, pricing, and regulatory issues and coordinates with Legal and other subject matter experts as needed.
  • Works and supports high value deals as the business requires.
  • Supports the RFP/RFI process by reviewing proposed customer terms, identifying non-standard contractual requirements, coordinating internal approvals, and helping business teams assess contractual risk before submission or award.
  • Works with RFP analysts and sales teams to ensure exceptions, assumptions, and contract positions are clear and properly escalated.
  • Owns and improves contract playbooks, clause guidance, templates, fallback positions, approval paths, and escalation rules for assigned business units.
  • Promotes consistency across similar deal types and helps develop repeatable contracting positions for recurring issues such as pricing, liability, data rights, security, AI use, audit rights, credit bureau restrictions, and regulated customer requirements.
  • Partners with Contract Administration, Contract Implementation, Legal, Finance, Sales, Product, Compliance, InfoSec, and Operations to confirm required reviews and approvals are complete before signature.
  • Helps resolve process gaps, unclear ownership, stale templates, inconsistent approval practices, and other issues that slow contracting or increase risk.
